Yesterday Todd and I had the day off and we decided to go on a small adventure. It promised to be a beautiful day on the coast, so we took off heading west. Our original thought was to stop at The Pelican Inn at Muir Beach for lunch, but we were nowhere near ready for lunch when we got there so we kept going. We drove through Stinson Beach and turned left where there was no sign to find the little town of Bolinas. The view from the beach looking over Bolinas Bay was stunning, with distinct layers of water, mist, the hills of Marin County, and clear blue sky. It was a perfect day for little kids with sand toys, dogs of every size playing fetch, and entire families of surfers. We continued meandering north to Pt. Reyes Station. By then we were more than ready for a late lunch. I was the driver for the day, so Todd got to enjoy a local brew. Walking back to the car we passed a market with bushel baskets of fruit outside. Summer met fall with the last peaches and pluots sharing space with persimmons, apples, and pomegranates. Personally, I’m ready for fall.
The day wasn’t about photography, but I had my camera with me. Here are a few images to give you the flavor of a lovely day.

As we get caught up in the day-to-day, it’s easy to forget what a cool place we live in, and how much there is to explore nearby. I’m so glad my best buddy and I took time to go out and play!
