An Elegant Afternoon at Dunsmuir House

On Sunday I decided to take a field trip back in time. I joined the Art Deco Society for a Gatsby Summer Picnic at historic Dunsmuir House. Todd and I attended this event years ago and — I guess it should come as no surprise — it hasn’t changed. The period clothes, the elegant picnics, and all those beautiful vintage automobiles. Except for all the digital cameras and iPhones, it was a moment out of time. I have always loved Dunsmuir House, and it was the perfect location for this event.

Take a look back with me . . .

You can see the entire gallery here. I warn you, it’s big. I couldn’t seem to help myself.

Dancin’ In The Street

Labor Day is the official end of summer. Even though around here street parties can continue into October, I hope you mark this holiday weekend with some special time with family and friends. Maybe it’s a habit from the Olden Days when school didn’t start until after Labor Day, but this weekend always seems like a chance for fun not to be missed.

Just to get you started, I’m posting a few images from a gathering I attended a few weeks ago. Best Block Party Ever. Get-up-and-dance music from first-class musicians, played live right on the street. Neighbors and friends of all ages letting their inner kid out to play. An old-fashioned good time.

Get out there and have some fun!
