Port Townsend: A Coffee Shop Exercise

We were assigned an interesting challenge at the Close to Home workshop in Port Townsend. We were invited to pick a subject to photograph and decide privately what story or feeling we wanted our photographs to convey — in five or six images. I chose to go to a coffee shop, specifically the very cool Undertown coffee shop below the main street in town, and I had some adjectives in mind. I wonder if my intention comes through for you.

Photography is such a rich storytelling medium, but it isn’t an easy one. I still like the combination of words and images to get my point across. But, just for fun, I’m putting these out to you with no words of explanation. I’d love to know how they make you feel. Can you tell how I feel about this coffee shop? Comments welcome!
