Gatsby Summer Afternoon-1

Gatsby Summer Afternoon

For the second year in a row, I witnessed the very special time travel that is the Gatsby Summer Afternoon. The Art Deco Society of California has been hosting this glorious picnic for 28 years. The Dunsmuir House Estate is the perfect backdrop for vintage automobiles, clothing, music, and delectable food presented with style. It was fun.

Don Neely’s Royal Society Jazz Orchestra made the music, and The Decobelles knew all the steps.

I even ran into my time traveling neighbors, Joe and Peg.

Whenever I’m around beautiful cars like this, I can’t help thinking of my Dad. He would have been beside himself.

You can see the rest of the gallery here. I warn you . . . it’s big. But if you attended the event, you just might see yourself. :-)

Dorothy, your enthusiasm for wherever you are and whatever you are photographing is such a treat. It comes through in your images (all 114 of them in this case) and I love it!

Thanks, Sabrina! As you can see, people pull out all the stops for this event so it’s a visual delight. As usual, I forgot to ask someone to take a picture of me. My hat was *fabulous*! :-)
