In the Paddock

In the Paddock

October 31, 2012  |  Local Interest

Horse racing is an intense sport, and nowhere is that more apparent to me than in the paddock before a race. The event itself is over in a flash, but the moments leading up to it seem longer, fraught with anticipation, and just as dramatic in their own way. This is where they all meet: trainers, owners, grooms, valets, jockeys. All the activity might seem chaotic at first, but if you look closely you’ll see the inner quiet and focus that is required to get the job done.

And then it’s over. Until the next race.

  1. That picture of the jockey (the third picture down) is incredible. Like belongs in a museum incredible.

  2. Goosebumps Dorothy…that’s all I have to say!
